How to add Bevels in Blender

 First of all, let's see " what is a bevel ? "

Blender how to add bevels

A bevel is an edge that has an angle that is less than 90 degrees. Beveled edges are often found on furniture, baseboards, cabinets, and mirrors. They are used decoratively, but they also prevent injuries that may occur from having sharp, perpendicular angles.

So in Blender, when you are modeling some shapes or objects, you also gonna need to add bevels. So here, I'm going to explain bevel types and how to add bevels in Blender.

There are two types of bevels

  1. Vertex bevels

  2. Edge bevels

Vertex Bevels

  • Vertex bevels are the bevels that we can add to the vertices of an object. To add  bevels to a vertex/vertices in Blender

     1. In object mode select the object you want to add vertex bevels

      2. Go to edit mode(tab)

Blender edit mode

      3. Go to vertex selection mode

Blender vertex selection

      4. Select the vertex or vertices you want to add Bevels ( you can select multiple vertices by holding Shift while selecting)

      5. After sect the vertex/vertices press ctrl+b+v and without clicking anywhere move your mouse around

      6. you can increase/decrease the segments(smoothness)by rotating your mouse wheel up and down

      7. After you are satisfied with the bevel size simply click the left mouse button.

      8. If you still want to increase/decrease the number of segments, you can do it by this menu that appears after you applied the bevels

Edge Bevels

We can add edge bevels to edges in an object. To add bevels to an edge/edges in Blender

      1. In object mode select the object you want to add edge bevels

      2. Go to edit mode(tab)

Blender edit mode

      3. Go to edge selection mode

Blender edge selection

      4. Select the edge or edges you want to add bevels ( you can select multiple vertices by holding Shift while selecting)

      5. After sect the edge/edges press ctrl+b and without clicking anywhere move your mouse around

     8. If you still want to increase/decrease the number of segments, you can do it by this menu that appears after you applied the bevels
